VSRL Thursday Night Next Gen Series Rules

Section 1) General

A) "Getting into it" with other drivers is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, the Discord server chat channel(s), the iRacing lobby and Discord voice chats. The penalties can be as severe as removal from the league. We will not tolerate division of this kind.

B) Series Admins have the right to remove driver(s) from a session, race, channel, or the league for any reason outlined in, or related to the league rules. Removed drivers will have the reason for their removal explained to them for the sake of transparency.

C) All incidents and penalties are reviewed and finalized by the series admins. Non-Admin drivers can call for official reviews post race. These reviews must be submitted within 18 hours of race end and include: the car #s involved, lap number, and why the review was submitted. These reviews will be analyzed by a sample of drivers from various teams who were not involved in the incident for the sake of unbiased transparency. These protests will use the ticket system in the #protest channel.

D) All drivers must be present in the Discord channel for the pre-race brief. Failure to attend the pre-race meeting will result in an EOL to begin the race.

E) Offensive, political, 'rage-bait', demeaning, racial or otherwise sensitive text or voice messages can result in removal from the league.

F) Rules are subject to change at any time.

Section 2) Restarts

A) The restart zone is in effect at all applicable tracks - these iRacing rules must be followed. Black flags for incidents relating to the restart zone will not be cleared under normal circumstances.

B) The field coming to the 'One to green' pace lap has the option to choose the top or bottom lane. This choose must be blatant and between the restart zone and start finish line. You may only choose once per restart. Any violations with the choose (too early, too late, no choice, etc.) will result in an EOL for that start.

C) On all starts and restarts there will be no changing lanes before the start finish line*. The penalty for this (caught in race) is a loss of 1 'strike' see section 3 subsection Afor details on cautions/incidents. The penalty for this (caught after race) is loss of qualifying privilege in the next race.

*Accident avoidance is the only exception but, is not an automatic invitation to change lanes.

D) All race starts are on the green flag. All restarts are on the leader with restart zone rules in effect.

E) A Stop-and-Go (Jackrabbit) or early (jumped) start will result in an iRacing black flag or an admin black flag.

F) Trailing the car ahead by more than 2 car lengths in the attempt to get a run on the driver ahead will be punishable by stop and go penalty. Keep the pacing tight without running into other drivers.

Section 3) Cautions, Incidents and Flag Rules

A) Cautions will be scored on a 3 strike system:

· strike 1 - EOL

· strike 2 - Pass though under green

· strike 3 - Parked for remainder of event

i) Only the race event counts toward the strike system (not practice, qualifying or warmup)

ii) A failure to adhere to strike 3 results in a DQ from the event and possible removal from the league.

iii) Each driver's strikes will be reset to 0 at the beginning of a race event unless a penalty from a previous race states otherwise.

iv) Obvious netcode will be deemed a 'racing incident' at admin discretion.

v) Drivers involved in incident must attempt to deem fault (while adhering to VSRL policy on messages in section 1 subsection A and E). This makes it easier for the admins.

B) For every 8 incident points a driver will lose a single championship point. This is a season long running total and will carry over from race to race. Only race sessions count.

C) Only 'passing under yellow' black flags will be cleared by admins under normal circumstances. Own up to your black flags (speeding in the pits, improper pit entry or exit, etc.)

D) No wave around will be given by admins under normal circumstances.

E) If a driver disconnects mid session and reconnects they can receive as many as 3 laps back. These will be handed out on the soonest caution.

F) Intentional wrecking or other actions outside of normal racing procedures are strictly prohibited and punishable by admin discretion. These penalties will be to the effect of suspensions, removal from race(s), season, or league.

G) Drivers can enter a ticket (#protest channel) if an incident (on track, iRacing voice chat, iRacing chat, discord chat) goes unnoticed or unattended to by admins. There is no penalty for a ticket that has no resolution.

Section 4) Misc. Rules

A) All races will have limited tires and 100% fuel capacity. Tires will vary based on track/race distance/track surface.

B) Drivers who miss a race will receive a provisional equal to last place points for the first event they miss. Only 1 provisional will be granted per season. A driver must specify if they want a provisional for a specific race before they are granted a provisional.

C) A driver is eligible for 2 drop weeks on top of the provisional. Keep in mind the eligibility requirements for the playoffs (Sections 5 B,C,D)

D) When entering pit road all drivers must form a single line to the outside (track side) of pit road. Drivers can drive toward their pit boxes within 5 stalls. Once a driver has received their pit service they must make a reasonable effort to blend to the outside (trackside) of pit road for pit exit. Drivers cannot drive through every box

E) The pit rules is Section 4 D are subject to the following penalties:

a. a verbal warning from any driver

b. a stop and go penalty (under green) or an EOL (under caution)

c. a 1 lap penalty for every subsequent infraction

F) Not sufficiently slowing to avoid an accident ("ARCA Braking") will be subject to additional penalty. The goal of this rule is to limit the unnecessary carnage that occurs after an accident has taken place. These penalties will be handed out via admin discretion. They can range from a '2 strike' penalty to parked for the session.

G) If a race has more entries than pit stalls drivers will have to qualify on time. The top 20 in points will be locked regardless of qualifying time.

H) Paint schemes and car numbers must match. Drivers have 2 weeks before penalties will be given. Penalty will be EOL on race start.

I) Setups are fixed iRacing setups.

J) Any server/league suggestions can be made in the #suggestions channel. Head Admins will review these suggestions and determine whether VSRL Next Gen procedures change or not.

K) Ask An Admin in the #faq channel is for users who are unsure of how something works. These questions and their resolution will be shared (if the user wants them to be) in the #faq channel.

L) No fast repairs

Section 5) Playoffs

A) Playoff format is a 5 race mini schedule (similar to the NASCAR "Chase" from 2004-13)

B) Number of drivers making the Playoffs will be determined by week 5 of the regular season. This number will be between 12 and 16.

C) A regular season win qualifies a driver for the playoffs so long as that driver reaches eligibility.

D) A Driver is playoff eligible if they pay the entry fee and have completed in at least 7 of the 10 regular season races

E) Bonus points will be distributed as follows:

· Each win = 2 points

· Each pole = 1 point

· Regular Season Champ = 5 points

F) After the regular season race winners (section 5 C) the playoff field will be set by the next drivers in points + bonus points until the playoff roster is filled.

G) Driver seeding will be based on bonus points (for eligible drivers) outlined in section 5 E

Rules are subject to change at any time.
